"Last night, I had a dream about counting money. In my dream, I sat at a long table in a bank. In front of me sat a huge pile of cash. Tall like a mountain. My job was to count it all before midnight. I started counting. One hundred, two hundred, three hundred... I counted fast. My fingers moved like machines. The bills smelled like old paper and dust. Every stack I finished, I placed to my left. The pile grew. But the mountain in front of me did not shrink. One thousand... five thousand... ten thousand... I looked at the clock. 11:30. Only thirty minutes left. I counted faster. My hands moved like lightning. But the numbers confused me. Did I count this stack already? Was this pile ten thousand or ten thousand five hundred? Sweat dropped on the bills. My head hurt. "Faster!" a voice shouted. A man in a black suit stood behind me. I never saw him come in. "You must finish before midnight!" "I can't!" I said. "There's too much!" "Keep counting!" he shouted. I grabbed the bills with both hands. But the more I counted, the more money appeared. The mountain grew bigger. Bills fell on the floor. Bills covered the table. Bills piled up to my chest. Twenty thousand... no, wait... was it fifteen thousand? I forgot. I had to start over. My fingers went numb. The numbers mixed together in my head. Everything was blurry. "Time is running out!" the man shouted. The clock showed 11:59. I held the last bill in my shaking hand. Then all the money turned into dry leaves. The whole mountain. Leaves everywhere, flying around the room like angry birds. The man in the black suit laughed. "You will never finish," he said. "It never ends." Then I woke up. I lay in bed, completely confused. My brain was still counting. One hundred, two hundred... What was that money? My debts? My worries? My endless to-do list? Maybe the dream was telling me something. Some things in life, you just can't finish counting."
