"Last night, I had a dream about arguing with my girlfriend. In my dream, we stood in the kitchen. It started with something small. I forgot to buy milk. But it did not stay small. "You never listen to me!" she shouted. Her face was red. "I forgot one thing! One thing!" I shouted back. My voice was louder than hers. "Last week it was the eggs! Before that, the bread! You don't care about this house!" she said. "That's not fair!" I yelled. "I work all day! I'm tired!" "Tired? I'm tired too! But I still remember everything!" she said. The argument grew bigger and bigger, like a fire. Old things came out. Things from months ago. The birthday I missed. The text I never answered. "You care about your friends more than me!" she screamed. "At least my friends don't shout at me!" I screamed back. Then she picked up my favorite mug. The blue one my grandmother gave me. "Don't!" I shouted. She threw it at the wall. It smashed into a hundred pieces. Coffee dripped down like dirty rain. I stared at the broken pieces. Something inside me broke too. "Fine!" I shouted. "I'm done!" I grabbed my keys and walked out. The door slammed so hard the wall shook. Then I woke up. My heart was pounding. My mouth was dry. I turned over. My girlfriend slept next to me, quiet and peaceful. I pulled her close. She mumbled something in her sleep. It was only a dream. But I got up early and bought milk. Lots of milk."
