"So I'm fishing. Off a dock. Don't know where. Just a dock and water and a rod in my hands. And I'm catching stuff. One after another. Little ones. Big ones. All different kinds. And every time I pull one up I look at it and think "no, not this one" and I throw it back. And I cast again. My bucket's empty. I've caught like thirty fish and my bucket's empty because I keep throwing them back. And I don't know what I'm looking for. That's the thing. I don't know what "the one" is. I just know it's not any of these. So I keep going. Cast, wait, catch, look, throw back. Over and over. And the sun's going down and I'm still at it. Some guy walked up and asked how the fishing was and I said "good" and he looked at my empty bucket and then looked at me and didn't say anything. Just nodded and walked off. And I kept casting. And I pulled up this beautiful fish, this really nice one, big and silver and perfect, and I held it and looked at it and thought "this is a great fish" and then I threw it back anyway. Because it wasn't the one. Even though I didn't know what the one was. Then it got dark. And I couldn't see the water anymore. Just black. And I was still casting into nothing, into this black water, and I couldn't feel my hands anymore, and I kept going. Cast. Wait. Nothing. Cast. Wait. Nothing. And I remember thinking "I should stop" but I didn't stop. I just kept casting into the dark. And the weird thing is I wasn't frustrated. I was calm. Totally calm. Just casting and waiting and casting and waiting and not catching anything at all. I woke up and my arm was tired. My right arm, the casting arm. Actually tired, like I'd been at it for hours. I lay there stretching it out and thinking about that silver fish. The one I threw back. I couldn't remember why. I got up and made coffee and my arm was sore all morning. Told people I slept on it weird. Didn't tell them about the dock. Or the dark water. Or the empty bucket I couldn't stop filling."

Guidance

Stop casting and start receiving by examining what 'the one' truly means, for it may be a phantom standard keeping your bucket empty. Practice gratitude and discernment by keeping at least one good fish, honoring the blessings already in your hands. Your sore arm is a wake-up call—your body is tired of the endless search, so choose, commit, and let yourself be filled.
