"I was in a house that I knew was supposed to be mine, but it didn't look like my real house. I was walking around trying to find a bedroom. I don't know why I needed it. I just remember feeling like I was supposed to be there. There were too many rooms. I would open one door and find another hallway behind it. At one point I found a room with all my old things in it. Clothes, some books, even a few things I thought I had thrown away years ago. Then I heard someone downstairs. I thought it was my mother, so I went down to see. Nobody was there. The front door was open, though, and I could see rain outside. I went back upstairs and suddenly the house seemed much bigger. I couldn't find the room with my things anymore. I wasn't really scared. Mostly I was annoyed and confused. I kept thinking, "I live here, so why can't I find my own room?" Then I woke up before I figured it out."

The unfamiliar yet owned house and the search for a bedroom point to a need to find your own private center, rest, and authentic identity. The shifting rooms, old belongings, and empty downstairs suggest that memories, familial patterns, and unconscious contents are asking to be integrated, even if the conscious mind feels confused rather than afraid."
