"So I'm lying in bed, right, half awake in the dream, and I open my eyes and there's a spider on the pillow next to my face. Not a small one. Leggy. Big enough that I could see the little hairs on its legs. And I just stared at it. Didn't move. Didn't scream. And then I closed my eyes and went back to sleep. In the dream. I remember thinking "I'll deal with it in the morning" and rolling over. The morning came and it was still there. Except now it was on the wall. And it was bigger. And there was another one. And another one. Just hanging there, all these little dark shapes against the paint, and I'm standing there with my coffee going "okay so this is a thing now." My roommate asked me something about the internet bill and I couldn't focus because there was a spider the size of my hand above the light switch. I went to take a shower and they were in the tub. Not a lot of them. Just one. Sitting on the drain like it was waiting for me. And I turned the water on and it didn't move. Just sat there while the water hit it. And I stood outside the curtain watching it through the gap and I couldn't get in. Just stood there dripping. That's where I stayed for a while I think. Just dripping and watching. Then I'm at work and there's one on my desk. And one on my keyboard. And my boss is talking to me about something, some deadline, and I'm nodding but I'm watching this spider crawl across my mouse pad and I'm thinking "does nobody else see this." And I looked around and everyone was just working. Normal. And I looked back at my desk and it was gone. All of them. Gone. Just my coffee mug and my stapler. I woke up and did the thing where you check the ceiling. Nothing. Checked under the pillow. Nothing. But I shook out my sheets anyway. All of them. Stood there in the dark shaking my comforter like a crazy person at 4am. Then I got back in bed and lay there staring at the ceiling for a long time before I could close my eyes. Still felt like something was watching me. Probably nothing. Still."
Emotion: Fear / Anxiety
Jungian Analysis
Core Theme

"This dream reflects the psychology of avoidance: a small fear or shadow element appears in a vulnerable moment, and when you refuse to confront it, it multiplies across every area of life. The spider is an archetypal messenger from the unconscious, asking for acknowledgment and integration rather than denial. Individuation begins when you stop rolling over and meet what watches you."

Hidden Emotions and Symbols

✦ Spider On Pillow

An intimate fear or shadow issue appears close to your conscious awareness.

✦ Ignoring Spider

Avoidance allows a small anxiety to grow stronger in the unconscious.

✦ Multiplying Spiders

Denied feelings spread into home, body, and work until impossible to ignore.

✦ Spider On Shower Drain

Cleansing and renewal are blocked by something you refuse to face.

✦ Invisible Spiders At Work

Others cannot see your inner fear, increasing isolation and self-doubt.

Wisdom

Notice what you keep postponing until morning, because the unconscious often sends small signals before they become overwhelming. Instead of shaking out every sheet at 4am, ask what the fear is protecting or demanding. Begin with one honest conversation, journal entry, or grounding practice, and let the spider become a guide rather than a threat.
