"I was in a field, or maybe a really overgrown backyard, and there was tall grass everywhere up to my knees. I don't know what I was doing there. Looking for something, probably, but the dream never told me what. I saw the snake before it bit me. I remember that clearly-I spotted it coiled up near a fence post, and instead of backing away I just... stood there staring at it. Thinking it was kind of pretty, actually. It was black with this pattern I can't describe now but I was really focused on the pattern at the time, like admiring the colors mattered more than the fact that it was a snake. Then it struck, and I felt it in my hand, and there was this flash of pain but it faded really fast. And I remember looking at the two little puncture marks and thinking "oh, that's bad" in the same tone I'd use for forgetting milk at the store. I started walking back toward a house, and the weird part is I wasn't panicking. I was just walking, holding my hand, thinking about whether I should call someone but also being annoyed that my phone was in my pocket and my other hand was full of something I can't remember. Then I was sitting on a couch (not my couch) and my hand was swelling, and my brother was there telling me I'd be fine, and I believed him even though my fingers looked like sausages. The last thing I remember is asking someone if the snake was venomous and them shrugging, and me thinking that was a really unhelpful answer before waking up. My hand actually felt tingly for a minute after I woke up, which freaked me out more than the dream did. "

Core Theme

"This dream suggests you are encountering a repressed desire or instinctual truth that you find strangely beautiful yet dangerous. Your calm, detached reaction to being bitten reveals a powerful defense mechanism, likely intellectualization or minimization, that protects you from fully feeling fear or pain. The childhood backyard setting and your brother's reassurance point to early patterns of being told everything is fine while your body signals otherwise."

Insight

Your dream invites you to stop admiring the danger from a safe distance and ask what desire or truth you have been refusing to name. Notice where you minimize physical or emotional symptoms in waking life, especially around family patterns. The lingering tingle in your hand suggests your body is asking you to take the bite seriously, even if your mind wants to shrug it off.
