Alligator in murky Water: Dream of Ignored Danger

"I was at this lake that was somehow also the pool from the apartment complex I lived in when I was like eight. The water was that weird murky green and I knew-I just *knew*-there was an alligator in it, even though I couldn't see anything. Everyone else was swimming and splashing around like it was nothing. I kept saying "there's one in there" and my mom (who looked like my mom but was also my coworker somehow) kept telling me to stop being dramatic. Then I saw it. Just its eyes and the bump of its head above the water, maybe ten feet from these kids playing, and nobody reacted. I was screaming at people to get out and they were looking at me like *I* was the problem. The alligator wasn't even doing anything aggressive, it was just drifting, real slow, like it had all the time in the world. That's honestly what scared me the most. At some point I was on a dock that I don't remember walking to, and the alligator slid up onto it with me. I want to say it lunged but it didn't-it just sat there between me and the shore, and I understood in that dream way that it was waiting. For what, I have no idea. Then my alarm went off but in the dream it was a dog barking, and I remember being annoyed at the dog for ruining the standoff. Woke up and checked the corners of my bedroom floor twice before I got out of bed. "
