Spaghetti laces and roaches: A call to cleanse Hidden fears

"I was sitting on the couch in my childhood living room, trying to re-lace a pair of sneakers, except the laces were made of cooked spaghetti. Out of nowhere, I heard this wet, scratchy rustling coming from under the cushions. When I pulled one back, the whole foam interior was just black and moving. It wasn't just a few bugs—it was hundreds of huge, shiny roaches piling over each other, and they didn't even care that the light was on. I tried to stand up to run, but my feet felt stuck to the carpet like cooled glue. Then the scene just snapped, and suddenly I was in my current bathroom trying to brush my teeth in total darkness. I turned on the tap, and instead of water, three massive ones tumbled out of the faucet right onto my hands. I could feel their little barbed legs twitching against my skin, and that prickling sensation was so real it made my stomach drop. I screamed, or tried to, but no sound came out, and then I grabbed a can of hairspray to fight them off even though I knew in the dream it would do absolutely nothing. I jarred awake shivering, immediately kicked my duvet off the bed to make sure nothing was hiding in the sheets, and I still feel completely disgusted hours later."
