The raven on the windowsill: A key and a quiet Companion

"There was a raven on my windowsill. Big one. I don't have a windowsill like that, but in the dream I did, and it was just sitting there looking in. I opened the window and it didn't move. So I went back to whatever I was doing. Making the bed, I think. When I turned around it was inside, on the dresser, next to my keys. It had a key in its beak. Not mine. Smaller. I took it and it let me. Then it just watched me. I remember walking through the apartment and it was following, hopping from thing to thing, never flying. I kept thinking I should be weirded out but I wasn't. It felt like a coworker. Somewhere in there I was late for something. The raven knew. It kept looking at the door. I woke up and there was a bird outside on the actual windowsill. Probably a crow. Probably. I stared at it a while. It stared back, then left. Checked my keys. All there. All mine."
