"A while ago, I had a very vivid dream that I got pregnant, took three pregnancy tests, and carried the baby for nine full months. It really felt like nine months passed—I aged, felt the side effects, and then gave birth. He was the sweetest little angel, with greyish-green eyes, a gummy smile, and soft little hands. I held him on my chest, kissed his head, and cried. I raised him for five years, and it felt like real time passed: he grew, my boyfriend and I aged, and I have so many memories of our little family. Then I woke up in my mom's house, in my old room, and frantically looked around wondering why I was there. I cried for weeks and went to therapy because of the grief I felt over losing "my baby.""

Jungian Analysis
Core Theme

"This dream reflects a profound experience of creation and loss within the unconscious, where the psyche simulates an entire lifetime of love and growth in a single night. The intense grief upon waking suggests that a deep part of you has invested in a nurturing, generative identity that feels more real than waking life, and its sudden disappearance leaves a void that demands mourning and integration."

Wisdom

The grief you feel is real because the love you experienced was real, even if the child was not. Honor that love as a testament to your capacity to nurture and create. The dream may be inviting you to recognize a part of yourself that was born and raised in your inner world—perhaps a project, a relationship, or a new sense of self—and to find ways to bring that nurturing energy into your waking life, rather than dismissing it as 'just a dream.
