The baby That wasn't supposed to Be

"There was a baby girl in the room, and I asked whose baby she was. Everyone in my family gave the same answer: my dead cousin's baby. I was very confused. "How could she have left a daughter if she's dead?" I asked. I can't remember what they said back, only that no one seemed bothered by it. The little girl had my cousin's complexion. Although she was so tiny, she seemed far ahead of her age, walking around and reaching out to everyone, alert and interactive. I watched her and thought, maybe she's a reincarnation of my cousin. "Who's taking care of her?" I asked. "Could I keep her?" Then I felt myself being pulled out of the dream, and I woke up thinking, wow, that was weird. A few days later, I learned I was pregnant, after years of wanting a second child, after IVF didn't work and we had decided it wasn't meant to be. Now I look back at the dream and wonder whether it was telling me something."
