Cemetery of Fear: A Dream of Awakening Meaning & Interpretation

"Last night, I had a dream about a cemetery. In my dream, I stood at the gate of an old cemetery. The iron gate was open, but it creaked in the wind. Fog covered the ground like a gray blanket. I did not want to go in. But my legs moved forward by themselves. Rows and rows of gravestones stood on both sides. Some were tall. Some were broken. Moss grew on the old ones. No birds sang. No wind blew. Everything was dead quiet. My footsteps made no sound on the wet grass. Then I heard something. Scratch. Scratch. Scratch. I stopped. The sound came from the ground. The soil on one grave moved. A hand came out. Gray and dirty fingers pushed up through the dirt. I wanted to run. But my feet were stuck in the mud. More hands came out of more graves. All around me. Left and right. Front and back. Then heads appeared. Faces with empty eyes looked at me. Their mouths opened, but no words came out. One of them pointed at me. Slowly. All the others turned to look. Then they all started walking toward me. Slow steps. Dirty hands reaching out. "Join us," they whispered. All their voices together sounded like wind through a broken window. "Join us." I screamed and pulled my feet free. I ran toward the gate. The gate was closing slowly. Slower and slower. Hands grabbed my jacket. Fingers touched my neck. Cold like ice. I jumped through the gate just as it slammed shut. Then I woke up. I was sitting up in my bed, screaming. My whole body was shaking. I turned on every light in my room. It was just a dream. Just a dream. I kept saying it until the sun came up."
