The ever-Changing sandwich Dream

"I'm making a sandwich. Normal. Turkey, lettuce, whatever. And I reach for the bread and it's sourdough. Fine. I put it on the counter and turn to get the mustard and when I turn back it's rye. Dark rye. And I think "okay, weird" and keep going. Mustard on the rye. Then it's a bagel. Not sliced. Just. A whole bagel. Sitting where the rye was. I sliced the bagel. Because what else do you do. And I'm spreading mustard and I look down and it's a tortilla. Soft, folded, just sitting there. And I said "okay" out loud. To nobody. And I wrapped the turkey in the tortilla and ate it standing up over the sink. And it was good. Really good. Best sandwich I've ever had and I couldn't tell you what bread it was. I woke up and made a sandwich for real. White bread. Normal. Ate it at the table. Fine. But I kept thinking about that tortilla. How it just. Worked."
