"I'm at a party talking to people. And I catch my reflection in a window. Front tooth. Gone. Just. A gap. Right there in the middle. And I looked at it and then I just. Kept talking. Kept smiling. Big smiles. Letting everyone see the gap. Nobody said anything. I kept waiting for someone to say something. "Hey, your tooth." Nothing. Just normal conversation. And I'm standing there with a hole in my smile going "so anyway" and gesturing and laughing and nobody flinched. I went to the bathroom to look closer. And it wasn't just missing. It was. Smooth. Like it had never been there. No root. No blood. Just gum. Healed over. Like my mouth had decided that's how it always was. And I stood there and poked at it and it didn't hurt. And I thought "okay." I went back out and kept talking. Kept smiling. And it was fine. It was actually fine. And I woke up and my tongue went straight to that tooth. There. Solid. And I lay there and I don't know why, but I was a little disappointed. Just a little. Like I'd lost something I hadn't even minded losing."
Freudian Analysis
Core Theme

"This dream reflects a profound acceptance of a perceived flaw that turns out to be a non-issue. The gap in your smile becomes a symbol of a healed absence, and the indifference of others mirrors your own unspoken readiness to let go of something you thought defined you. The lingering disappointment upon waking suggests a quiet grief for a limitation that had become familiar, even comfortable."

✦ Gap

Reflects a perceived loss or imperfection that is met with surprising ease and acceptance.

Insight

True wholeness may not require fixing what seems missing; sometimes the gap is already healed, and the only thing left to lose is the story you told yourself about it. The disappointment upon waking hints that even a limitation can become a familiar identity, and releasing it can feel like a quiet loss.
