Barefoot ferry and the unpacked Suitcase

"I was on some beach town trip, not sure who I came with, a few people I half recognized, and the hotel was also kind of my old school gym, but nobody found that odd. I kept meaning to unpack and just never did, suitcase sitting open on a bed while we all wandered off toward the water. The sand was warm in that perfect way, and the ocean was the kind of turquoise you only see in photos. Someone handed me a drink with a tiny umbrella and I remember laughing way harder than the joke deserved. No schedule, no phone buzzing, just long stretches of nothing that felt amazing. At some point we were eating dinner on a terrace, string lights, everyone talking over each other, and I realized I'd lost track of what day it was and didn't mind at all. Then somehow it was morning and we were running for a ferry, still happy, still barefoot. Woke up smiling, a little sad it wasn't real."
