The grasshopper on My knee

"I'm sitting on my porch. Just sitting. And a grasshopper lands on my knee. Green. Big. Just. Sitting there. And I didn't brush it off. Didn't move. Just let it stay. And it stayed. For hours. In the dream. I drank my coffee. Read a little. And it just sat there on my knee. Cleaning its legs. Doing grasshopper stuff. And I remember thinking "this is the most peaceful thing that's ever happened to me." A bug. On my knee. And I meant it. Somebody walked by and said something and I put my finger to my lips. Shh. Didn't want to scare it. And they looked at me weird and kept walking. And the grasshopper stayed. And I sat there until the light changed. Until it got cool. And then it flew off. Just. Gone. And I stayed on the porch a while longer. Just. Sitting. I woke up and my knee felt warm. Weird. Just warm. I got up and went outside. Sat on my porch for real. No grasshopper. But I stayed out there anyway. Longer than usual. Just sitting. Watching the yard."
