"I was sleeping in my apartment, but it was a fancier version of it, bigger and nicer than the real one. Then I heard a knock at the door, quiet at first, then louder. Someone was fumbling with the lock, trying to get in, and the handle kept rattling. My heart jumped. I tiptoed to the peephole and looked out. Three young people stood in the hallway, clearly drunk, convinced it was their apartment. No wonder the key wasn't working. I didn't want to deal with them, so I held still and let them struggle a little longer until they gave up and wandered off. The hallway went quiet again, and I crept back toward bed. Then came another knock, knock, knock, much steadier this time. I tiptoed back to the peephole, and there was my family, standing outside, having decided to surprise me with a visit. I didn't open the door. I tiptoed back to bed and pretended to be asleep, hoping I wouldn't get caught. Then I woke up. I felt a little amused and a little guilty, my heart still beating fast from all the sneaking around. The quiet of my real apartment felt very welcome."
